先日よりスパイラルで展示中の作品につきまして、Twitter上で多くのみなさまから反響をいただき、また当ウェブサイトやInstagramで作品や活動を、興味を持ってご覧いただき誠にありがとうございます。
今回、注目をいただいた作品は、2015年に制作した「存在の感触 ーブラジャーー」という作品です。この作品は、現在スパイラル(株式株式ワコールアートセンター)にコレクションされ、展示の機会を何度かいただいてきました。
私は2011年ごろより、身の回りの日用の品、特に古着(誰かが身につけていた衣類)をモデルにした作品シリーズを展開してきました。衣服という私たちに身近なものを通じて、現代に生きる人間のポートレートとしての作品を制作してきました。
私たちの暮らす社会の中において、衣服を身に纏わずに過ごすことは、プライベートの空間を除き、ほぼありません。また普段はあまり意識されることはありませんが、衣服は私たちの身体・皮膚に最も近いところにあるものだと言うことができます。それは私たちの体に、物理的に親密であるというだけでなく、私たちの内面とも深く結びついているものです。私は、こうした衣服(古着)のシワやゆがみから、かつてそれらを身に纏っていた持ち主の存在を感じ、衣服の姿を通じて、今という時代に生きる人間の姿を捉えたいと考えています。
衣服は私たちの日常生活において、ありふれたものですが、その布のシワ・ひだは刻々と変化し続け、留まることはありません。繊維は太陽の光によって、色褪せ、朽ちていきます。このような衣服・布の持つはかない時間を、陶(焼きもの)という、与えられたかたちを長い時間留め続けるメディア(媒体)に置き換え、確かなものとして記憶させるのです。
制作においては、モデルとなる古着を横に置いて観察しながら、粘土の柔らかい塊を削ぐようにして形づくっていきます。型や繊維を泥に浸すという方法では、私が求める作品の強さや密度を実現することができません。(あくまで私の作品にとって、ということです) 何もないところから「手で彫る」という身体行為を通じて、かつての衣服の持ち主の存在の記憶に、焼きものの触覚的な質感や脆さ、私自身の身体性や時間が重なり合いながら、不思議な密度を持った記憶の集合体、現代に生きる人間のポートレートが出来上がるのです。

I would like to thank all of you for receiving feedback on Twitter about the works that have been exhibited in SPIRAL in Aoyamam, TOKYO since the other day, and for taking an interest in seeing the works and activities on this website and Instagram.
The work that attracted attention this time is the work "Feel of Existence-Brassiere" realized in 2015. This work is currently being collected at SPIRAL (Wacoal Art Center, Inc.) and has been exhibited several times.
Since around 2011, I have been developing a series of works modeled on everyday items around me, especially used clothing (clothes worn by someone). Through clothing, which is familiar to us, I has created works as portraits of human beings living in our days.
In the society in which we live, we rarely spend time without clothes, except in private spaces. Also, although it is not usually noticed, it can be said that clothing is the one closest to our body and skin. It is not only physically intimate with our body, but also deeply connected to our inner self. From the wrinkles and distortions of these clothes (used clothes), I feel the existence of the owner who once wore them, and I want to capture the human figure living in our days through the appearance of clothes.
Clothes are commonplace in our daily lives, but the wrinkles and folds of the cloth are constantly changing and never staying. The fibers fade and decay due to the sunlight. The ephemeral time of such clothes and cloth is replaced with ceramics, a medium that keeps the given shape for a long time, and is memorized its reality.
In the realization, the model old clothes are placed sideways and observed, and the soft lumps of clay are scraped off to form the shape. The method of immersing molds and fibers in mud does not achieve the strength and density of my work I seek. Through the physical act of "carving by hand" from nothing, I remember the existence of the owner of the clothes, the tactile texture and brittleness of the ceramics, my own By overlapping physicality and time, an aggregation of memories with a mysterious density, a portrait of a human being living in the present age, is created.
Nowadays, the spread of the covid-19 is very worrisome. I sincerely hope the infection will end as soon as possible, and we will be able to live our daily life with peace of mind. And also I hope that as many people as possible will have the opportunity to come into contact with the world of my work and enjoy it.

■ Currently, we are holding a solo exhibition at the Hiina Action Gallery in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
(Open only on Friday and Saturday, last day)
■ The latest work from Gallery OUT of PLACE will be exhibited (planned) at Art Collaboration Kyoto 2021 scheduled to be held in Kyoto in the fall of 2021.
